Copper and aluminum brazing are core competencies that directly impact the integrity of Daikin products. As the first skill competition introduced in 2014, brazing remains a cornerstone of Daikin’s global skill development efforts. Competitors demonstrate their ability to produce high-quality brazed joints while maintaining the highest standards of safety, workmanship, and efficiency. Participants are evaluated by certified trainers on safety, brazing technique, speed, and joint quality, with scores combined to determine overall rankings. Success requires exceptional hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and the ability to recognize subtle changes in alloy flow, joint condition, and torch flame characteristics throughout the brazing process. Brazing plays a vital role in HVAC manufacturing, particularly in the assembly of refrigerant and air conditioning systems, where leak-proof joints must withstand high pressures and operating temperatures. Using filler alloys that melt above 840°F, the process creates durable connections with minimal thermal distortion and no need for post-braze heat treatment. The Brazing Skills Competition highlights the craftsmanship, precision, and technical excellence required to build world-class HVAC products, reinforcing a skill that remains fundamental to Daikin’s quality, reliability, and manufacturing success.
